Terms of service, in plain words
Last updated 2026-08-21. These terms are between you and Vaspera Capital (“we”), the maker of Coffer.
What Coffer is
Coffer is a household finance application that runs on your computer. It reads financial data you connect (through Monarch, SimpleFIN, or Plaid), optionally parses receipt and bill emails from senders you approve, and shows you information about your money. Your financial data is processed and stored on your device — see our privacy page for exactly what does and doesn't leave it.
Information, not advice
Coffer provides information, calculations, and estimates about your own finances. It is not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, and we are not a fiduciary, adviser, broker, bank, or money transmitter. Estimates are labeled as estimates. Decisions about your money — and their outcomes — are yours. For advice, consult a qualified professional.
Your subscription
• Plans and prices are shown at checkout; the 30-day trial converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends (we email you a reminder before any charge).
• You can cancel anytime from your account; access continues to the end of the paid period. We don't prorate partial periods.
• Payments are processed by our payment providers; we never see your card number.
• Your license key is for your household's use. Don't share it publicly or resell it.
Fair use of the AI features
AI answers run through our relay with a fair-use daily allowance per subscription. We may throttle or suspend usage that looks automated or abusive, because it directly costs us money and degrades the service for everyone else.
Your data, your responsibility, our limits
• You're responsible for your device, your credentials, and the accuracy of data you enter by hand.
• Bank connections are provided by third parties (Monarch, SimpleFIN, Plaid) under their own terms; we don't control their availability or accuracy.
• Coffer is provided “as is.” To the maximum extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Our total liability for any claim is capped at what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.
Acceptable use
Don't use Coffer to break the law, to access accounts that aren't yours, or to probe, overload, or reverse the service's hosted components. We may suspend accounts that do.
Changes and termination
We may update these terms; material changes will be announced by email or in the app before they take effect, and continuing to use Coffer accepts them. You can leave anytime: cancel, delete the app and its data folder, and email us to delete your account record. We may terminate accounts for breach of these terms, with a refund of any unused full months if the breach wasn't yours.
The legal frame
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest stands.
